AVRIL MATHIE IS AN AUSTRALIAN / SWISS PROFESSIONAL BOXER, MODEL and FITNESS EXPERT.

“I’m just a girl having a go at life and I hope that by my example I can inspire others to do the same. I want to show people that an ordinary kid that was kicked out of home at 15 years old and supported herself through the final year of high school can be anything she wants to be. In 2016 I moved to the USA with no visa, no job, no place to live and to Miami… where I had no friends. Partly because I love an adventure, but mainly to pursue my dreams of becoming a boxing world champion, model and role model.”

Avril started boxing late in 2012, and had her first amateur fight within 6 months. Five years and 20 amateur fights later, she began her professional career in December 2017 and has since fought all over the world including in at Madison Square Garden and in Dubai. Avril also lived in Greece for three summers (2017-2019), where she trained at the Perseas Boxing gym alongside then world champion Christina Linardatou Duran and learned to speak and read Greek. She is currently based in Miami, training out of Centeno’s Sweatbox Boxing Gym and managed by Peter Kahn. Avril now has professional record of 9 wins (3TKO), 1 loss, 1 draw, and is undefeated in the bantamweight division.

But Avril is most well known for winning Miss Swimsuit USA International 2014 – the biggest swimsuit pageant in the world – and then the $50,000 Las Vegas International Model Search in December 2015. These two prestigious international titles as well as a top 5 placing at the Miss Fashion TV International Diamond Model awards in Cyprus 2012 are the reason for her being touted as Australia’s most successful ever pageant model. Her achievements scored her lucrative contracts in the USA where she now resides. Avril has worked part-time as a fitness and swimsuit model for the past 18 years sideline to her athletic career. Aside from boxing and modeling, Avril uses her social media accounts to inspire others to be active and get involved in life, through relatable humour, workout videos and inspirational content.
